Job summary

The Refuse Team Lead role based at Northumberland County Council's Tyne Mills Depot in Hexham is seeking a dedicated, well-organised candidate with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

You will supervise frontline refuse collection staff, plan rounds, mentor staff, ensure timely and quality waste services, and maintain positive relations.

Based in Hexham, the role is full-time with opportunities to develop within a supportive council environment and exposure to diverse waste services.

Qualifications

• HGV driving licence category C or above (or willingness to train).
• Knowledge of driving HGV regulations.
• Awareness of Health & Safety legislation in waste services.
• Knowledge of tasks and operation of related tools and equipment.
• Interest in waste services.

Responsibilities

• Assist in determining deployment of staff and vehicles to meet service standards and deadlines.
• Direct and supervise frontline refuse collection staff to achieve objectives.
• Contribute to induction, risk assessment, training and development of staff.
• Receive service requests and schedule rounds for bulky, garden waste and recycling centres.
• Promote a positive relationship with frontline staff to maintain constructive relations.
