Job description

About the Role

We’re looking for a friendly, detail-focused and people-oriented People Services Assistant to join our inclusive and collaborative team on a fixed term contract for 6 months.

In this key support role, you’ll help deliver a first-class employee and candidate experience. From handling HR queries and recruitment admin, to onboarding new colleagues and keeping our systems in check — you’ll be at the heart of our People Team’s success.

If you thrive on organisation, enjoy helping others, and want to work in a team where inclusion and growth are championed, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for HR and recruitment queries
  • Manage shared inboxes and maintain data in HR and ATS systems
  • Draft contracts, offer letters, and process onboarding documentation
  • Processing amendment letters for internal moves and secondment opportunities
  • Support job posting, interview coordination and application pre-screens
  • Liaise with hiring managers on onboarding progress and compliance, including DBS checks
  • Help plan and deliver recruitment events, careers fairs and outreach activity
  • Ensure all employee records and paperwork meet compliance standards
  • Collaborate across teams (HR, Payroll, IT, Marketing, Facilities and more)
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all processes

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in administration, ideally involving HR or recruitment
  • Excellent attention to detail and written communication
  • A strong customer service mindset — helpful, friendly and solution-focused
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organised under pressure
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and HR or recruitment systems
  • A team player who’s not afraid to ask questions or jump in to help
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, GDPR, and basic HR procedures
  • A driving license and access to a vehicle for travel to other sites

Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards it) or similar HR/recruitment qualification
  • Experience using an ATS or HR Information System
  • Knowledge of employment law relating to recruitment and onboarding
  • Experience in the housing, care, or public sector

What You’ll Get in Return

  • A warm, welcoming team and supportive working environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Flexible working options where possible
  • A chance to truly make a difference in people’s lives
  • An organisation committed to equality, diversity and inclusion
