Job summary

CVS Vets is seeking a Veterinary Receptionist at Seymour Vets in Totnes/Bridgetown. The role covers front-desk duties, client welcome, appointment scheduling, and payment handling within a busy practice environment.

You’ll join a supportive team serving small animal patients with a patient-first approach and flexible shifts that include evenings and weekends. Experience in a veterinary setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage Communications: Handle incoming calls and schedule appointments efficiently
• Inquiries Resolution: Respond to queries via phone, email, and in-person interactions with professionalism
• Client Reception: Greet and register new clients, ensuring a warm welcome
• Insurance Management: Process and manage insurance forms adeptly
• Medication Distribution: Dispense medications as required
• Financial Transactions: Process payments accurately and efficiently
• Emotional Support: Provide empathy and understanding to clients during distressing times, while maintaining professionalism
• System Utilisation: Organise patients using the in-house system efficiently
• Inter-practice Communication: Liaise with veterinary practices to address patient needs and queries
• Debt and Refund Management: Make necessary phone calls regarding debts, belongings, and refunds
• Client Care: Above all, ensure that every client feels welcomed and valued at our practice

• Contract: Permanent
• Hours: 40hrs per week
• Salary: £8.00 - £12.71 per hour, depending on age and in accordance with National Minimum Wage legislation
• Shift Pattern: The rota will include some evenings and weekends and some shifts at our branch surgery in Preston, Paignton.

We are a friendly small animal practice with a team of 6 vets. The practice is situated near the river in Bridgetown, Totnes with a large onsite carpark. We also offer a CT referral service with clients visiting from a variety of practices in the area. You will be supported by our existing reception team and be part of the Seymour Vets family who are friendly, caring and a great team to be a part of.
