Job summary

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Bristol is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for the Reception Class to join a dedicated team on a fixed term contract until 31 August 2027. The role is 31.25 hours per week, term time only plus 5 inset days, from 8.15 am to 3.30 pm, with an unpaid lunch break.

The successful applicant will have experience with primary age children, a sound knowledge of the national curriculum especially Early Years, and a willingness to train in Read Write Inc and

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary age children.
• Knowledge of the national curriculum and Early Years provision.
• Ability to promote independent learning inside and outside the classroom.
• Thrive training or willingness to be trained in Thrive/SEL approaches.
• Excellent communication skills with children, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils and groups under the direction of the class teacher.
• Assist planning and evaluation of learning activities for individuals and groups.
• Help maintain an engaging, orderly learning environment inside and outside.
• Observe pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
• Support phonics and literacy initiatives, including Read Write Inc where appropriate.
