Job summary

Forge Valley School in Sheffield is seeking a Reading Mentor to join us on a full-time basis, 39 weeks per year, 37 hours per week, Grade 4 Point 7–12. The role focuses on building pupils’ confidence in reading and closing gaps in reading age, across KS3 and KS4, within a supportive local trust.

The successful candidate will deliver targeted literacy interventions, monitor progress using data, and work with senior leaders to raise attainment.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering reading interventions with diverse learners.
• Ability to track progress using assessment data to inform practice.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Work effectively towards ambitious literacy targets and pupil progress goals.
• Deliver targeted reading interventions, including small group and one-to-one support.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, including those who lack confidence in reading.
• Use assessment information to track progress and adapt support strategies.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Share and actively contribute to our vision of improving life chances for every child.
