Job summary

Forge Valley School is seeking a Reading Mentor to support pupils’ reading development, close gaps in reading age, and enable learners to access the full curriculum. You will engage with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 under the guidance of senior leaders.

The role focuses on delivering effective literacy programmes, building confidence in reading, and using data to inform intervention strategies. A commitment to safeguarding and professional development is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering literacy programmes to close attainment gaps.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training to support reading development.
• Clear understanding of strategies to support reading across different pupil needs.
• Commitment to the school’s vision of eradicating illiteracy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted reading interventions, including small group and one-to-one support.
• Work with SLT Lead for Whole School Literacy and Subject Leaders to monitor pupil progress.
