Job summary

Veolia in Widnes (WA8) is seeking drivers to join a team delivering essential waste management services. You will drive company vans, perform safety checks, collect waste and recycling from customer sites, and maintain a high standard of customer service and safety.

Role requires a full UK driving licence and resilience to weather. You will work with handheld devices and route systems, supporting depot operations and upholding Veolia's standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK driving licence.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Proven experience in waste collections, logistics or driving roles.
• Experience using handheld devices or route management systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive company vans safely and professionally in line with laws and procedures.
• Carry out daily vehicle walk around checks and report defects.
• Collect commercial waste and recycling from customer premises.
• Load and unload waste containers safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all collections are completed on time and per service schedules.
• Use in-cab tech to input route information and report issues.
• Report contaminated bins, missed collections, or access issues.
• Maintain high health and safety standards at all times.
• Deliver excellent customer service and represent Veolia professionally.
• Support depot operations and assist other crews when required.
• Keep vehicles and work areas clean; maintain yard discipline.
• Complete weekly stock checks as part of operations.

Hours: 48 hours per week, starting at 06:30 am

What you'll be doing;

• Carrying out daily vehicle walk around checks and reporting defects
• Collecting commercial waste and recycling from customer premises
• Loading and unloading waste containers safely and efficiently
• Ensuring all collections are completed on time and in line with service schedules
• Using in-cab technology and mobile devices to complete route information and report issues
• Reporting contaminated bins, missed collections, access issues or customer concerns
• Maintaining a high standard of health & safety at all times
• Delivering excellent customer service and representing the business professionally
• Supporting depot operations and assisting other crews when required
• Keeping vehicles and work areas clean and tidy
• Maintaining good yard discipline and completing weekly stock checks

What we're looking for;

• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Strong awareness of health & safety
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking attitude
• Ability to carry out manual handling tasks
• Previous experience in waste collections, logistics or driving roles
• Experience using handheld devices or route management systems
• Knowledge of commercial waste and recycling streams
• Van driving experience in busy urban environments
