Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customer locations across the Barnet area. This role operates 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am–5pm, with optional Saturday work and overtime opportunities.

You will work independently, visiting driveways or client car parks, using diagnostics to resolve issues and keeping accurate service records. A valid UK driving licence with up to six points is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Full UK driving licence with ≤6 points and no bans within last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customer locations (home or work).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tires, and brakes inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic software/tools to identify issues and guide repairs.
• Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Barnet

Pay / salary: £45,370 per annum (inclusive of LWA) OTE: Up to £57,000 per annum with overtime and bonus.

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Friday) 8am – 5pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays (You get a day off in the week for every Saturday).

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans within last five years
