Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Primary Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive independent school in Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside, working with pupils aged 11–19 with SEND and SEMH needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Primary Teacher who is looking to move into a specialist SEND/SEMH setting and work in a school where teachers are well supported and able to build strong, meaningful relationships with their pupils.

With just 24 pupils on roll and classes of around five students, the school provides a calm, nurturing and highly personalised learning environment. Each class benefits from Teacher and Teaching Assistant support, allowing staff to give pupils the individual attention they need.

The Role

The school uses a primary-style teaching approach, with teachers delivering a broad and engaging curriculum rather than specialising in a single subject.

You will teach across a range of subjects, adapting lessons and activities to meet pupils' individual abilities, learning needs and EHCP outcomes.

The role would suit a Primary Teacher who is passionate about inclusive education, enjoys working with smaller groups and wants to develop their experience within SEND and SEMH education.

You will initially have the opportunity to become familiar with the pupils, routines and school environment before taking on your full teaching responsibilities.

About You

The school is looking for an experienced Primary Teacher who is enthusiastic, patient and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.

You will ideally have:

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

Primary teaching experience

Experience working with SEND, SEN or SEMH pupils is desirable

A confident and adaptable approach to teaching across the curriculum

Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills

A patient, nurturing and resilient approach

The ability to differentiate learning for a range of abilities

A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Teachers with strong mainstream Primary experience who are looking to move into SEND/SEMH are encouraged to apply.
