Job summary

SEMH Teacher – Year 7 Class

Location: Warwick, Warwickshire

Pay: £180–£240 per day, depending on experience

Duration: Full-time | Temporary Supply | Potential Long-Term

Start Date: September 2026

Closing Date: Ongoing

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a committed and experienced Teacher to join a specialist school in Warwick. This is an excellent opportunity for a primary or secondary-trained teacher with strong classroom management skills and an interest in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful teacher will initially work with a Year 7 class, delivering engaging and accessible lessons while creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.

The role will initially be offered on a temporary supply basis, with the potential for the right teacher to continue on a long-term basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons appropriate for a Year 7 class
  • Adapt teaching and learning to meet individual SEMH, behavioural and educational needs
  • Create a calm, consistent and positive classroom environment
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Manage behaviour confidently using positive and consistent strategies
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and wider school staff
  • Follow individual pupil support plans and school policies
  • Assess learning and adapt lessons to ensure pupils make progress
Requirements
  • QTS or recognised UK teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching in a UK school
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils with additional needs
  • Confidence teaching a range of subjects
  • Primary or secondary teaching experience considered
  • Previous SEND, SEMH, behavioural or alternative provision experience is desirable, but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
