Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council is hiring a Software Developer to design, build and support digital solutions that make everyday work easier and improve the colleague experience across the organisation.

You will collaborate with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, Business Analysts and stakeholders to develop applications, workflows and integrations using Microsoft Power Platform and other modern development technologies, including APIs and cloud services.

We're creating a new team dedicated to delivering and improving the digital products, tools and services that colleagues rely on across Oxfordshire County Council. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape both what we deliver and how we work together.

Through low-code development, automation and modern digital tools, we'll help drive efficiency and improve the way services are delivered across the organisation.

About the Role

As a Software Developer, you will design, build and support digital solutions that improve efficiency, simplify processes and enhance the experience of colleagues across the organisation.

Working closely with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, Business Analysts and stakeholders, you will develop applications, workflows, integrations and automations using Microsoft Power Platform and other modern development technologies. This may include Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Copilot Studio, APIs and integration services that connect systems and streamline business processes.

You’ll help translate business challenges into practical solutions that reduce administrative effort, automate routine tasks and enable colleagues to focus on delivering excellent services.

You’ll be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery and design through to development, testing, deployment and continuous improvement. You’ll also contribute to technical standards and development practices, helping ensure solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable.

About you

collaborative and motivated developer who enjoys solving problems and building solutions that make a real difference.

You’ll have experience developing and supporting digital solutions, ideally using Microsoft Power Platform technologies such as Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse. Experience with software development languages, APIs, integrations, cloud technologies and modern development practices would also be beneficial.

You’ll be comfortable working with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions. You’ll enjoy balancing technical development with practical problem-solving and will be motivated by delivering measurable business outcomes.

You’ll have a good understanding of software development principles, including solution design, testing, security, supportability and continuous improvement.

Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about using technology to improve services, automate processes and help organisations work more effectively.
