Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose complex issues, and communicate repair needs directly with customers.

A full UK driving licence with up to 6 points is essential, with opportunities for progression and extensive training. The role is permanent, full-time, home-based across the UK, with a 40-hour week, and occasional Saturday work with enhanced pay.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, workshop or mobile role.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• Customer-focused approach.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers’ home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Pay / salary: £40,170 OTE: In Excess of £52,000

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

- Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer’s selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.

- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.

- Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.

- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.

- Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.

- Payment handling through card transactions.

- Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.

- Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

- Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).

- Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.

- The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
