Job summary

Orwell Housing Association's Blackbourne View in Ixworth is looking for a dedicated Care Assistant (Waking Nights) to join our caring team. The role runs nights from 21:45 to 07:15, helping residents to live safely with dignity and choice.

You will provide personal care, mobility assistance and medication support, build positive relationships and complete accurate records. Desirable qualifications include a QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care and a full driving licence; DBS checks are provided.

Qualifications

  • Care Certificate is desirable.
  • QCF Level 2 in Health and Social care or equivalent is desirable.
  • Full driving licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate support with day-to-day living activities, including personal care, mobility, medication administration and promoting independence wherever possible.
  • Deliver person-centred support by building positive relationships, getting to know each individual and providing emotional support that reflects their needs, preferences and goals.
  • Use effective communication skills to listen, observe and maintain accurate records, including updating and reporting on support and care plans.
  • Support people with a range of health and wellbeing needs, including those living with dementia, mental health conditions and those requiring end-of-life care.
  • Apply your knowledge of safeguarding to help promote the safety, wellbeing and rights of the people we support.
  • Carry out routine security and safety checks of the building throughout the night to help maintain a safe environment for everyone.

About Blackbourne View:

Blackbourne View is an Extra Care scheme, located in the welcoming village of Ixworth, just 10 miles from Bury St Edmunds. Ixworth offers a friendly high street with various amenities, including a doctor's surgery, café and post office. The service has various public transport links connecting to nearby towns including Bury, Diss and Thetford making the commute to work that bit easier!

*Due to the location of the service, we recommend that applicants hold a full driving licence*
