Qualifications

• HCPC or NMC Registration (RGN/ODP) required.
• Minimum of 6 months UK operating theatre experience.
• Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship for this role).
• Immediate Life Support (ILS) / Paediatric ILS beneficial.
• Mentoring or teaching qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating theatre and ensure all instruments and equipment are sterile.
• Set up instrument trays and check equipment functionality.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and handling specimens.
• Maintain sterile field and address any break in sterility.
• Ensure accurate surgical counts before, during and after procedures.
• Support post-operative duties including decontamination and documentation.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be part of a multi-skilled scrub team delivering safe, high-quality care across a range of surgical specialties, including:

• Head & Neck
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• General Surgery
• Urology
• Vascular

You will be:

• responsible for preparing the operating theatre, ensuring all surgical instruments, equipment, and materials are sterile, complete, and ready for use
• supporting the surgical team by setting up instrument trays, checking equipment functionality, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout the procedure
• responsible for directly assisting surgeons during operations by anticipating needs, passing instruments, handling specimens, and ensuring all items are accounted for
• monitoring the sterile field and responding quickly to any issues, such as equipment problems, breaks in sterility, or changes in the surgical workflow
• ensuring accurate surgical counts before, during, and after the procedure to maintain patient safety
• supporting post-operative duties, including safe disposal of equipment, instrument decontamination, and documentation

• Minimum of 6 months UK based Operating Theatre experience
