Helen & Douglas House in Chesham is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager for a part-time role of 15 hours per week. You will work with a team of staff and volunteers to maximise shop sales, processing donations, merchandising stock, and delivering excellent customer service.
The role requires willingness to learn, good attention to detail, and the ability to manage volunteer teams across variable weekend patterns. Training is provided and interviews are conducted virtually where possible.

Salary per annum: £10,034.80 per annum (Full-time equivalent: £25,087 per annum)

Join us as an Assistant Manager in our Chesham shop and become and ambassador for our charity. We have a permanent part time position available working 15 hours a week.
You will join a busy shop working alongside a team of paid staff and volunteers helping to maximise the shop sales profits. Manual handling is a core component of the role, handling donations through the stages of processing & helping to merchandise stock on the shop floor. Great customer service is crucial to what we do so previous experience in hospitality, High Street Retail or ideally Charity Retail would help you hit the ground running.
Full training is provided. We are keen to work with people who have the right attitude so willingness to learn specific skills is equally as important as past experience. To thrive in this role you will need a good eye for detail, strong organisational skills and capability to manage volunteer teams in a variety of situations. You will be supported by the shop manager and area manager to achieve your objectives in these areas.
Our Chesham shop trades 7 days a week. The role is flexible in terms of weekend work. The position could be for Sat/Sun work only or if preferred for weekend work to be shared amongst team members on a rota basis. Flexibility is required as working patterns will change regularly due to the needs of the business and levels of volunteers available to work.
