Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Bishop's Stortford to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customer locations. You will work 40 hours across five days (Mon–Sat) with optional overtime and a generous bonus scheme.

The role includes EV servicing, a pension scheme, life cover and ongoing training. A UK driving licence is essential, with up to 6 points. Consultant: Kalum Green, Octane Recruitment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customer locations (including EVs).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep accurate records of work and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Bishop's Stortford

Pay / salary: £40,170 per annum, OTE: Up to £52,000 per annum

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Saturday) 8:30am – 5:00PM, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.

• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
