Octane Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces across the UK. You will complete maintenance tasks, diagnose issues, and communicate repair needs directly with clients.

Qualifications

• UK driving licence with max 6 points and no bans.
• At least 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 2/3) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at the customer’s location (driveways/offices).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, tires, brakes).
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools/software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle card payments for services.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers’ home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am – 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer’s selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
