Job summary

The Best Connection Group Limited is recruiting for a Class 2 HGV Driver (Skip Wagon) in Barnsley. Join a waste management and recycling business with long-term potential. The role offers weekday work, flexible start times between 2:00am and 5:00am, and a path to permanent employment.

Primarily you will operate skip wagons, perform deliveries and collections at customer sites, and ensure safety and compliance while delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 (C) Licence is required.
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification is required.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card is required.
• Experience with skip wagons is preferred.
• Flexibility with start times and hours is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out skip deliveries, collections and exchanges across customer sites.
• Operating Class 2 HGV skip wagons safely and efficiently.
• Loading and unloading skips using hooks and chains.
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects.
• Communicating with transport managers and site personnel.
• Adhering to road traffic laws, health and safety procedures and company policies.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring driver regulation compliance.

About the Role

As a Class 2 HGV Driver, you will be responsible for operating skip wagons, carrying out skip deliveries, collections, and exchanges at customer sites. Due to varying site opening times and workload demands, start times and daily hours may differ from day to day. The successful candidate will be comfortable working flexible hours and committed to delivering excellent service while maintaining high safety standards.

Your Duties Will Include:

• Carrying out skip deliveries, collections, and exchanges across customer sites
• Operating Class 2 HGV skip wagons safely and efficiently
• Loading and unloading skips using hooks and chains
• Completing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects
• Communicating effectively with transport managers and site personnel
• Adhering to all road traffic legislation, health and safety procedures, and company policies
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with driver regulations

What We're Looking For:

• Valid Class 2 (C) Licence
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• Previous skip wagon experience preferred
• Experience operating rigid vehicles and drawbar trailers preferred
• Flexibility with start times and working hours
• Strong communication skills and a professional attitude
• Excellent understanding of driver hours and vehicle safety requirements
• A reliable and hardworking approach to work
