Job description

Job Title: Care & Support Worker

Are you caring, compassionate, and friendly? Do you want to make a difference in someone's life by giving them choice, control, dignity, and respect? If so, we may have the right position for you!

Our Reablement Service is seeking to appoint a Care & Support Worker, working a 26.25-hour per week contract. This essential service operates 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, providing the best possible quality of care in the community.

The successful candidate will be a car driver and prepared to work a 4-week rolling rota, including AM shifts from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and PM shifts from 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The positions include weekends and bank holidays.

These posts are subject to the Fluency Duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. The post holder must demonstrate a proficient level of fluency as detailed in the job specification.

About the Service

The aim of our service is to enable individuals to remain in their own homes by promoting independence and delivering quality care. We work to ensure individuals are treated with dignity and respect, collaborating with other professionals and agencies to provide person-centered services within national guidelines and standards.

The Reablement Service offers short-term care, usually delivered in the person's own home, to people with disabilities or those recovering from illness or injury, with the potential for significant improvement.

The purpose of Reablement is to help individuals who have experienced health deterioration or increased support needs to relearn skills required for safety and independence at home.

We also provide a bridging service for those awaiting long-term care packages or between care arrangements, and a resettlement service to support individuals back into their routines after time away from home. Additionally, we offer emergency care and support response for immediate support needs while assessments are completed.

Benefits and Training

The role offers invaluable experience in delivering person-centered care. No essential qualifications? Don't worry! We provide comprehensive induction, full training, and funding for qualifications upon successful probation completion.

Starting salary ranges from £24,790 to £25,183 (FTE), with enhancements for weekend and bank holiday work, plus overtime opportunities. Our employee benefits include:

  • A career average pension scheme
  • Enhanced pay for evenings/weekends
  • Discounted gym memberships, travel cards, and discounts across various sectors
  • Occupational health and wellbeing services
  • Personal development programs and regular support meetings
Application Process

Please ensure you read all guidance on the Council’s website on completing your application. You must meet all essential criteria to be shortlisted.

Proof of right to work in the UK is required at interview.
