Job summary

Amey is seeking a Senior Signalling Engineer/Designer to join our Consulting Rail team. The role covers major UK rail projects across Derby, Manchester, Birmingham, and York, with 37.5 hours weekly and flexible, hybrid working arrangements.

You will support design teams on signalling schemes, deliver technically robust solutions, and contribute to bids and client engagements while managing junior staff and coordinating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in civil engineering within rail sector is desirable.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision and supervise junior staff.
• Understanding of rail design standards and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound engineering solutions compliant with standards and client requirements.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation with quality, cost and programme in mind.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
• Lead a small, local, single-discipline technical team and deliver workload.
• Contribute to bids and business development activities.
• Work on site, visiting or full-time with out-of-hours work as needed.
• Act as people manager when required by the business.
