Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a motivated Safety Consultant to join our Rail team in a role that develops safety engineering and assurance across major rail projects. You will work with experienced professionals and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safety outcomes, learning EN50126, EN50129, IEC 61508 and CSM-RA along the way.

You will contribute to safety assurance for infrastructure, signalling and new rail technologies while supporting safety approvals and documentation.

Qualifications

• Qualification in engineering, safety or related field.
• Knowledge of rail safety engineering or systems engineering.
• Understanding of EN50126/EN50129/IEC 61508/CSM-RA.
• Experience in safety assurance, approvals or risk assessment.
• Interest in rail infrastructure and signalling systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work on UK and international projects.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of safety engineering and assurance for rail projects.
• Apply safety methods per EN50126, EN50129, IEC 61508, CSM-RA.
• Contribute to safety assurance for infrastructure and signalling projects.
• Help with safety approvals and evidence.
• Assist with safety for new products/technologies.
• Prepare and review safety docs and reports.
• Collaborate with clients and engineers to meet project needs.
• Contribute to proposals and understand commercial aspects.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Manage activities across projects with senior guidance.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in rail safety.
