Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Safety Consultant to lead safety engineering and assurance for rail projects. The role focuses on guiding risk assessment methodologies, safety protocols, and project quality while mentoring junior consultants.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering safety engineering and assurance services to rail projects.
• Background in risk management, systems engineering and/or safety engineering.
• Prior UK rail infrastructure or consultancy experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex rail safety engineering and assurance services for rail projects.
• Oversee bidding, winning and delivery of major projects with clients.
• Contribute to safety assurance for major infrastructure projects (e.g., national rail works).
• Support contractors with CS M and approvals for station works.
• Lead safety assurance for new rail products and signalling systems.
• Work on global projects from the UK with flexible travel expectations.
• Balance multiple activities across projects and stakeholders.
• Run interactive client workshops and stakeholder sessions.
