Job summary

Ford & Stanley Group is recruiting a Roster Clerk in Swindon to manage driver rosters, allocate resources, and ensure compliance with working time regulations. This on-site role requires strong organisation and calm decision-making in a fast-paced rail operations environment.

You will collaborate with Planning, Control and Depot teams, maintain accurate records, respond to changes, and help deliver a safe, reliable service with effective communication to drivers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Scheduling experience allocating resources or scheduling staff within a regulated or operational environment.
• Transferable industry background in aviation rostering, bus/coach operations, logistics workforce scheduling, healthcare rota management or manufacturing shift planning.
• Strong understanding of working time regulations and policy compliance.
• Highly organised with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Skilled at resolving scheduling conflicts and adapting to changing operational demands.
• Excellent communication with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
• Attention to detail when maintaining records and Rosters.
• Team player with cross-functional collaboration.
• Calm under pressure in time-critical situations.

Responsibilities

• Driver allocation in line with requirements and depot needs.
• Create, maintain and update driver rosters reflecting staffing requirements.
• Ensure compliance with working time regulations and local policies.
• Record sickness, annual leave and other absences and adjust resources.
• Respond to planned and unplanned operational changes and disruptions.
• Coordinate with Planning and Control to align resources with the service plan.
• Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts and shortages proactively.
• Communicate roster changes clearly to drivers and stakeholders.
• Maintain roster records and workforce data for reporting.
• Help ensure the depot has resources to deliver services safely and reliably.
