Job summary

Heavy Haul Rail Limited is seeking a proactive Roster Clerk to plan and deploy train crews and operational staff safely and efficiently. You will work with Control, depot teams and staff to produce accurate rosters, manage annualised hours and ensure adherence to fatigue management rules and workforce agreements.

The role requires rostering experience, strong organisational skills, attention to detail and good IT proficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in rostering, planning or operational resource allocation.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Sound IT skills including Microsoft Office and key operational systems.
• Knowledge of driver and ground staff terms and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Produce efficient base rotas and weekly rosters to support operations.
• Prepare and issue daily alteration sheets for allocated depots.
• Ensure only trained, competent and compliant staff are rostered.
• Manage annualised hours and support contractual obligations.
• Coordinate annual leave rosters for drivers and ground staff.
• Update rosters in response to timetable changes and operational needs.
• Maintain records using rostering and competency systems.
• Liaise with Control and operations teams to ensure coverage.
• Monitor fatigue alerts and take appropriate action.
• Reconcile roster changes to ensure accurate worked hours.
• Arrange accommodation, hire vehicles and medical appointments as needed.
• Provide cover across rostering functions when required.
