Job summary

CAF Rail UK is seeking an Overhaul Technician in Manchester to disassemble, inspect, repair and assemble bogies and wheelsets. You will work within a production team, performing basic electrical/pneumatic tasks and supporting non-destructive testing to ensure safety and reliability of components.

The role requires NVQ3+ in mechanical/electrical disciplines, hands-on overhaul experience, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Proven experience in heavy engineering environments with rail, automotive or aerospace relevance.
• Hands-on overhaul, assembly and testing of large components like bogies or wheelsets.
• Experience using lifting and handling equipment including cranes and manipulators.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.
• Experience with torque-controlled assembly and precision measurements.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair and assemble bogies and wheelsets.
• Perform basic electrical and pneumatic disconnections and testing as required.
• Support non-destructive inspections to ensure safety and quality.
• Work as part of production team to meet delivery and quality targets while maintaining safety and 5S.
