Job summary

CAF Rail UK is seeking an Overhaul Facility Production Manager in Manchester to lead the production operations for component overhauls including bogies, wheels, traction motors, gearboxes, and HVAC systems.

You will plan and manage daily production activities, ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery, and uphold 5S on the shop floor while coordinating with Engineering and Materials teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Level 4/5 in Engineering degree is desirable.
• Experience in production and people management in a heavy engineering or rail environment.
• Experience in planning, leadership, and delivering high-quality outputs on time.
• Familiarity with component overhauls, depot/facility maintenance, or workshop operations.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is highly desirable.
• Familiarity in Total Productive Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage day-to-day activities of the production team to meet safety, quality, and delivery targets.
• Ensure 5S standards on the shop floor and maintain cleanliness and organization.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Materials teams and clients.
• Support layout design, equipment specification, and training during the setup phase.
• Review BOM knowledge and ensure robust procedures for activities.
