Job summary

Caf Rail UK Limited in Manchester is seeking an Overhaul Technician responsible for disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly of bogies, wheelsets and sub-components in line with CAF Rail UK procedures and HSQE standards.

You will perform basic electrical and pneumatic disconnections, functional testing, and support non-destructive inspections to ensure safety, reliability and quality, contributing to production targets in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant mechanical/electrical discipline.
• Proven experience working in a heavy engineering, rail, automotive, aerospace, or similar precision mechanical environment.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical overhaul, assembly, and testing of large components such as bogies, wheelsets, or rotating equipment.
• Exposure to basic electrical and pneumatic systems, including disconnection, connection, and pressure testing.
• Organised and methodical, maintaining clear documentation and traceability.
• Commitment to lean principles and 5S standards.

Responsibilities

• Disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly of bogies, wheelsets, and sub-components in accordance with CAF Rail UK overhaul procedures and HSQE standards.
• Carrying out basic electrical and pneumatic disconnection, functional testing, and supporting non-destructive inspections to ensure integrity, safety, and quality.
• Working as part of the production team to achieve delivery, quality, and reliability targets through consistent workmanship and adherence to work instructions.
