Job summary

Morson Talent is recruiting for an Overhaul Technician at our Manchester site. You will disassemble, inspect, overhaul and reassemble bogies, wheelsets and powerpacks, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. A mechanical or electrical background and NVQ Level 3 or above are preferred.

You will work with heavy engineering equipment, read engineering drawings, and perform functional tests. This is a hands-on role in a specialist rail engineering environment with a permanent contract and

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy engineering, rail, automotive or aerospace environments.
• Ability to overhaul, assemble and test large components or rotating equipment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, procedures and inspection instructions.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, overhaul and reassemble bogies, wheelsets, powerpacks and related components.
• Carry out cleaning, preparation, assembly and basic mechanical, electrical and pneumatic disconnections/reconnections.
• Perform functional checks, measurements and testing; support non-destructive testing as needed.
• Safely operate workshop tools, lifting equipment, presses and precision measuring devices.
• Identify defects and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and keep tools, equipment and work areas clean and organized.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet deadlines and drive continuous improvement.
