Job summary

Morson Talent is seeking an experienced Technician for a permanent role at the Newton Heath depot in Manchester. The role offers up to £51,000 per year and focuses on fault-finding, diagnostics, and routine maintenance of modern rolling stock.

The candidate will diagnose faults across electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, interpret schematics, and use diagnostic tools to ensure fleet reliability. A driving licence and willingness to work rotating shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Must have NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience in a technical/engineering role.
• Proven fault diagnosis and root cause analysis experience.
• Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematic diagrams.
• Experience using diagnostic software, test equipment and precision measuring instruments.
• Valid driving licence.
• Flexible shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform root cause analysis across electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams to identify and resolve issues.
• Use diagnostic software, test equipment and measuring instruments to investigate faults.
• Carry out corrective maintenance and repairs on modern trains within a depot environment.
• Identify underlying causes of faults and implement lasting solutions.
• Support fleet availability by ensuring maintenance work is completed to required standards.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to resolve technical challenges and maintain operational performance.
