South Western Railway is seeking a skilled electrical/mechanical technician to service and repair rolling stock and attend to mainline service failures across SWR trains. You will work to depot protection, quality procedures and regulations while maintaining safety standards.

The role involves supervising assistants, fault finding with schematics and wiring diagrams, carrying out component changes, testing, and reporting.

Competenze

• Supervise and mentor assistants and apprentices
• Undertake fault finding on units to identify faults and solutions
• Carry out component changes as required
• Set up electrical equipment and perform post repair testing
• Obtain, use, care for and return tools and equipment
• Compile formal reports detailing post incident/failure

Mansioni

• Supervise and mentor assistants and apprentices and provide on the job training
• Undertake fault finding on units to identify faults and solutions
• Carry out component changes as required
• Using the correct equipment undertake fault finding tasks
• Complete environmental examinations against detailed specifications
• Carry out repairs to all forms of SWR rolling stock
• Carry out cosmetic enhancements and make safe faults needing attention
• Set up electrical equipment and test apparatus
• Undertake post repair testing
• Attend track calls as directed by Fleet Control
• Record all work carried out and sign off
• Compile formal reports detailing post incident/failure
• Obtain and return all tools used
• Advise Fleet Control of problems and arising work
• Work effectively as part of a team and lead when required
• Undertake minor modifications or fleet improvement schemes
• Additional tasks as specified by Local Manager
• Depot variations may occur
