Job summary

South Western Railway in Wimbledon seeks an experienced EMO Technician to join the Depot Engineering team. You will ensure safety, quality and environmental procedures are followed, perform audits, investigate incidents and prepare formal reports.

You will also mentor apprentices, support maintenance staff and contribute to modifications and technical brief preparation. Essential qualifications include an electrical/mechanical engineering qualification and at least three years in a rolling stock

Qualifications

• Electrical/Mechanical engineering qualification essential.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a rolling stock depot; EMO technician preferred.
• Report writing, numeric and IT skills are essential.
• Understanding of rolling stock safety legislation and quality procedures desired.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering drawings and electrical/pneumatic diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Work to laid down specifications and depot quality systems/working instructions for Fleet Engineering and local.
• Carry out train-related audits/in process checks and formulate action plans.
• Investigate safety critical rolling stock incidents and compile formal reports; recommend reliability improvements.
• Analyse downloads to support complex fault finding.
• Support maintenance staff to undertake duties effectively.
• Mentor apprentices and contractors as required.
• Supply modifications or campaign component change support to the depot and Fleet Engineering.
• Produce technical briefs and work instructions for train-related activities.
• Investigate train failures to support performance PPM growth and delay minute appropriation.
