Job summary

Rullion is recruiting a System Technician in Leicester to provide high-level technical support for a modern rolling-stock fleet. You will diagnose complex faults, identify root causes and help ensure safe, reliable operation while gaining broad knowledge of train systems, including high/low voltage, TCMS, propulsion and safety systems.

Full training will be provided to apply transferable maintenance skills from related engineering environments.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship in electrical/electronic/mechanical engineering with City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ or equivalent.
• Hands-on fault finding, diagnostics and problem solving within maintenance environments.
• Ability to read electrical or mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out complex fault finding, diagnosis and repair across rolling-stock systems.
• Investigate in-service defects and repeat failures to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Perform functional testing across mechanical, electrical, electronic and software-based systems.
• Interpret drawings and schematics to support fault diagnosis and repair.
• Monitor performance and identify trends to improve reliability.
• Provide technical support to depot maintenance and production teams.
• Support investigations into safety-related incidents and improvements.
• Produce clear technical reports on defects, investigations and recommendations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement focused on safety and maintenance performance.
• Mentor colleagues and support engineering changes and modifications.
