Job summary

Amey Consulting, a leading provider of engineering and decarbonisation solutions for transport infrastructure, is seeking a permanent Civil Engineer to join the Consulting Rail team. Based across UK offices including Birmingham, the role involves supporting the Senior Engineer in designing and delivering rail schemes and mentoring junior staff.

You will work with Network Rail and clients, produce designs, calculations, drawings, and bid/support work-winning efforts.

Qualifications

• Relevant civil engineering experience in rail within a commercial, client-focused environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and to supervise junior staff.
• Good understanding of rail standards (DMRB) and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation.
• Oversee junior staff and ensure quality, cost and programme targets.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings.
• Manage a small locally-based team and deliver workload.
• Contribute to bids and work-winning activities.
• Occasionally work on site or in temporary roles, including out-of-hours work.
• Act as people manager when required.
