Job summary

Loram UK/EMEA seeks a Training & Competency Assessor to lead the design and delivery of competence management and learner systems. You will assess learners, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to rail knowledge standards with modern audio/video tools.

You will collaborate with HR and operations to drive workforce training, monitor development plans, and keep materials aligned with UK rail requirements and ORR/RSSB guidelines.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in relevant mechanical/technical subject.
  • Assessor Qualification (Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, A1, D32) or willing to work towards.
  • Level 4 - Internal Quality Assurance or willing to work towards.
  • Minimum 3 years’ knowledge of rail fleets and technical understanding of fleet maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years’ knowledge and proven record of assessing work in a structured and auditable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee competence and learner management systems for Loram UK/EMEA with the HR team.
  • Assess learners and provide feedback showing minimum requirements for competence.
  • Implement and QA procedures across rail disciplines; train and guide learners.
  • Support learners to develop attitudes, skills and abilities for qualification completion.
  • Drive training and competence to meet business needs with continuous improvement.
  • Support operations in monitoring training plans to comply with Loram UK standards and rail guidelines.
  • Identify training gaps and work with business areas to update plans.
  • Update training material to reflect current national rail standards and changes.
  • Review assessment units and participate in ad-hoc requests with global functions.
