Job summary

Leonardo in Edinburgh is seeking a Project Engineering Lead to guide a team through architectural design and implementation of the ECRS Mk2 Typhoon Radar Processor, with FPGA-focused delivery. You will own subsystem architecture, drive integration, and coordinate across Systems, Software and Hardware teams to ensure robust, high-performance results.

The role requires strong leadership, deep DSP/embedded experience, and the ability to manage requirements traceability, timing, and certification

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven technical leadership experience and delivery ownership.
• Strong background in digital system design, FPGA/ASIC.
• Ability to derive and manage requirements across system levels with traceability.
• Understanding of high-performance embedded or real-time processing.
• Experience with structured verification and validation approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a high-performing team of engineers across complex work packages.
• Own architectural design decisions for processor subsystems.
• Collaborate across Systems, Software and Hardware domains to translate requirements into designs.
• Drive modern engineering practices to improve productivity and quality.
• Oversee design artefacts to meet performance, timing and certification requirements.
• Lead integration planning and system bring-up within the radar system.
• Balance technical risk, schedule and cost while maintaining engineering excellence.
