Job summary

Leonardo is recruiting a Senior/Principal Systems Engineer to join the ECRS Mk2 radar team within the Typhoon sector in the UK. You’ll tackle complex hardware, firmware and software interactions, drive MBSE approaches, and lead cross‑disciplinary collaboration across multiple subsystems.

The role offers hybrid working with locations in Edinburgh and Newcastle, a challenging V‑model engineering environment, and opportunities to influence system architecture and test strategies.

Qualifications

Understanding of full‑lifecycle Systems Engineering principles.
Experience in hardware/firmware/software interactions.
Ability to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team.
Experience writing and managing technical requirements.

Responsibilities

Analyse customer requirements and derive system functions.
Own delivery of work packages across HW, firmware and software.
Lead System Architecture allocation to LRIs and subdomains using MBSE.
Author system and LRI requirements and verification tests.
Coordinate cross‑disciplinary design across subsystems.
Support integration, test, and defect resolution.
