Job summary

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of SPEN framework projects across the Central Belt from our Motherwell office. You will work with the commercial team on overhead line, substation and power transmission projects.

You will manage project costs, forecast financial performance, administer NEC contracts, procure subcontractors, value works and identify commercial opportunities and risks while travelling to project locations as

Qualifications

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or equivalent.
Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction, civil engineering or utilities.
Knowledge of NEC contracts.
Strong commercial awareness and financial management.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across project locations.
Experience in power/utilities sectors (desirable).
Chartered status or working towards accreditation (RICS/CIOB/ICES) (desirable).
Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners (desirable).

Responsibilities

Managing all commercial aspects of assigned projects from inception through to final account.
Producing accurate cost forecasts, cost value reconciliations, and financial reports.
Administering NEC contracts and supporting contract compliance.
Procuring, managing, and developing relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
Measuring and valuing works in accordance with contractual requirements.
Preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities, schedules of rates, and estimates.
Supporting the management of change control, compensation events, and commercial risk.
Reviewing project programmes and understanding the commercial impact of delays and disruptions.
Ensuring compliance with governance procedures and best practice.
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.
Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
