Job summary

Trant Engineering is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on engineering, construction and utility projects across the UK. You’ll manage lifecycle costs, contracts and commercial performance to keep projects on time and on budget.

You will work with project teams, site managers and suppliers, handling cost control, variations and final accounts while mentoring junior members where applicable.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in engineering, construction, or utilities projects.
• Knowledge of UK contract forms; specifically, NEC4.
• Experience in cost control, subcontractor management, and variation administration.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Appropriate IT skills, specifically in Excel, with the ability to facilitate the use of formulas and pivot tables.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across projects and sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the administration of contracts, pricing and forecasting costs.
• Involvement in preparation of tender documents, contracts, budgets and bills of quantities.
• Support the preparation and management of variations, compensation events, and change orders.
• Provide guidance to project teams on contractual obligations and commercial procedures. Tracking changes to design and or construction works and adjust budget projections accordingly.
• Production of subcontract procurement schedule. Administer subcontractor contracts, applications for payment, and variations.
• Assist with cost reporting, forecasts, and cash flow updates for work in progress and end cost forecasting.
• Support final account preparation and submission.
