Job summary

Cumming Group UK & Europe seeks an experienced cost manager to support delivery of small to medium projects and assist larger programmes in the Manchester area. You will prepare budgets, cost plans and client reports, while managing risk and value.

Role demands leadership, stakeholder management and the ability to coordinate with teams including the supply chain. MRICS progression and strong IT skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Ideally degree qualified: construction, cost management, engineering, quantity surveying or other RICS accredited degree.
• Working towards MRICS / other equivalent qualification or experience.
• Developed understanding of leadership techniques and ideally some formal leadership training.
• 4+ years’ experience.
• Experience on the Main Contracting side preferable.
• Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters.
• Experience of industry standard forms of contract, typically JCT and NEC.
• Basic pre and post contract technical cost management skills.
• Good core technical skills.
• Good IT skills for the role including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Developing interpersonal skills with both client and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for day-to-day delivery responsibility for small to medium projects and assist larger programmes.
• Prepare budget estimates, cost plans and client reports.
• Support risk and value management.
• Contract administration including valuations, forecasts, cost reports and meetings.
• Preparation of bills of quantities, schedules of rates, or other methods of work evaluation.
• Deliver outputs accurately and on time to a high standard of quality.
• Support delivery through proactive involvement and performance management.
• Ensure service delivery complies with Health & Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and network to grow the business.
• Assist with tender evaluation and contractor selection.
