Job summary

Mitchell Maguire is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for Commercial Refurbishment based in Plymouth. You’ll manage costs, prepare valuations, and support procurement across mainly public sector projects, with typical project values from £700k to £3m.

The role requires strong communication, confidence, and the ability to build relationships with clients and contractors. A junior candidate or trainee may be considered.

Qualifications

• Must have Quantity Surveying experience in construction.
• Experience within large scale public sector projects would be highly advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal across all levels.
• Confident and articulate.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial and financial aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring costs are controlled and budgets are maintained.
• Prepare cost estimates, valuations, financial reports, variations, and final accounts.
• Support procurement activities, including tender analysis, subcontractor appointments, and contract administration.
• Carry out regular site visits, monitor project progress, and identify commercial risks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Typical project sizes ranging between £700k - £3m
