Job summary

Mitchell Maguire is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for Commercial Refurbishment based in Plymouth. You will manage commercial and financial aspects of public sector projects, ensuring budgets are controlled and forecasts are accurate.

The role includes cost estimates, valuations, subcontractor procurement, site visits, and final accounts, with typical project sizes from £700k to £3m. The ideal candidate has QS experience in construction, strong communication, and the ability to work across teams.

Qualifications

• Must have Quantity Surveying experience in construction
• Experience within large scale public sector projects would be highly advantageous
• Would consider a more junior graduate or a trainee
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal across all levels
• Confident and articulate

Responsibilities

• Quantity Surveyor position dealing with a various commercial construction projects across primarily the public sector
• Manage the commercial and financial aspects of multiple construction projects, ensuring costs are controlled and budgets are maintained.
• Prepare cost estimates, valuations, financial reports, variations, and final accounts.
• Support procurement activities, including tender analysis, subcontractor appointments, and contract administration.
• Carry out regular site visits, monitor project progress, and identify commercial risks and cost-saving opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Typical project sizes ranging between £700k - £3m
