Job summary

Mitie Group plc. is seeking an experienced QHSE leader to drive strategy across Power and Grid Major Projects. You will shape the QHSE agenda, engage senior leadership, and deliver improvements across safety, environment and quality management.

You will manage audits, support ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001), mentor teams, and influence stakeholders to meet KPIs in high-risk environments. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Safety & Environmental Management or equivalent.
• CMIOSH and/or NEBOSH Diploma(s).
• Lead auditor qualification for ISO standards.
• Experience delivering QHSE improvements on major projects.
• Experience managing teams and mentoring senior staff.
• Strong knowledge of QHSE systems, audits, and legislation.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and IT skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead QHSE strategy across Power and Grid, Major Projects business.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.
• Maintain and improve QHSE systems, processes, and documentation.
• Monitor performance, produce reports, and present to leadership.
• Lead incident investigations and liaise with enforcement authorities.
• Deliver QHSE training (including subcontractors).
• Ensure safe systems of work are implemented across major projects.
• Align management systems across business functions.
• Engage with external stakeholders (clients, auditors, suppliers).
• Support pre-qualification, tendering, and supplier evaluation.

Education

Degree in Safety & Environmental Management or equivalent

CMIOSH

NEBOSH Diploma(s) (Health & Safety and Environmental)

Lead auditor qualification (ISO standards)

Experience delivering KPIs and QHSE systems

Experience managing teams and mentoring senior staff
