Job summary

Forvis Mazars in the UK is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager (SN2) to lead multiple audit engagements from planning through to completion. You will supervise junior staff, manage client communications, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality audit services.

You will apply up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP/FRS102, IFRS, and the Companies Act, while building strong client relationships and contributing to firm-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• ACA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent) required.
• Experience in external audit, ideally with publicly funded bodies.
• Leadership of audit assignments from planning to completion.
• Experience supervising and coaching audit trainees and seniors.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP (including FRS 102), IFRS, and the Companies Act.
• Ability to build professional relationships with clients and handle queries.

Responsibilities

• Audit Delivery – Manage audits for local government, NHS, and central bodies from planning to completion.
• Planning & Organisation – Develop audit strategies and scoping plans with effective resource and timeline management.
• Technical Application – Apply UK GAAP/IFRS/Companies Act to audit assignments and escalate complex matters.
• Review & Reporting – Draft sections of audit opinion summaries and group reporting packs for review by Managers/Partners.
• Team Support – Lead and supervise audit assistants and seniors during fieldwork, allocate tasks, review work.
• Coaching & Development – Support growth of junior team members with guidance and feedback.
• Quality & Compliance – Ensure audit files meet standards, follow firm methodologies and regs.
• Client Relationships – Act as daily contact for clients and build professional relationships.
• Commercial Awareness – Monitor budgets, assist billing, identify value-add opportunities.
• Collaboration – Work with audit and service-line colleagues on initiatives.
