Job summary

Forvis Mazars in the UK is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager (SN2) to lead multiple engagements from planning through to completion, supervising junior staff, and managing client communications to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

You will apply UK GAAP/FRS 102, IFRS, and the Companies Act, develop audit strategies, monitor budgets, and contribute to firm-wide initiatives, collaborating across service lines to add value for clients and grow professionally.

Qualifications

• ACA / CA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification required.
• Experience in external audit, ideally with publicly funded bodies such as local authorities, NHS, or government-aligned organisations.
• Experience leading audit assignments from planning through to completion, with increasing responsibility for client relationships.
• Ability to supervise and coach junior staff and review work to a high standard.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102), IFRS and the Companies Act.

Responsibilities

• Audit Delivery – Manage audits for local government, NHS, and central bodies, from planning through to completion.
• Planning & Organisation – Develop audit strategies and scoping plans, manage resources and timelines.
• Technical Application – Apply UK GAAP/FRS102, IFRS, and Companies Act to assignments, escalate complex matters.
• Review & Reporting – Draft sections of audit opinions and reporting packs for review by Managers/Partners.
• Team Support – Lead and supervise audit assistants and seniors, allocate tasks, provide feedback.
• Coaching & Development – Support growth of junior team members with guidance and training.
• Quality & Compliance – Ensure audit files meet standards and regulatory requirements.
• Client Relationships – Act as day-to-day contact, respond promptly, build trusted relationships.
• Commercial Awareness – Monitor time vs budget and contribute to cross-sell opportunities.
• Collaboration – Work with colleagues across audit and service lines on firm initiatives.
