Job summary

Forvis Mazars in the UK is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager (SN2) to lead multiple engagements from planning to completion. You will supervise junior staff, manage client communications, and ensure timely, high-quality audits for local government, NHS, and central bodies.

The role requires ACA/CA/ACCA or equivalent, and proven external audit experience with public sector clients. You will work within a collaborative team, develop your leadership skills, and contribute to firm-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• ACA/CA/ACCA or equivalent required.
• Experience in external audit, ideally with publicly funded bodies such as local authorities, NHS trusts, and government-aligned organisations.
• Ability to lead audit assignments from planning through to completion with increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Audit Delivery – Manage audits for local government, NHS, and central bodies, from planning through to completion, on time and within budget.
• Planning & Organisation – Develop audit strategies and scoping plans; manage resources and timelines.
• Technical Application – Apply knowledge of UK GAAP/FRS102, IFRS, and Companies Act; escalate complex matters.
• Review & Reporting – Draft sections of audit opinions and close-out documents for review by Managers and Partners.
• Team Support – Lead and supervise audit assistants and seniors during fieldwork, providing feedback.
• Coaching & Development – Support junior team members through formal and on-the-job training.
• Quality & Compliance – Ensure audit files meet standards and regulatory requirements.
