Job summary

The Crown Hotel Harrogate is seeking a reliable Public Area Cleaner to maintain cleanliness across our property, including public spaces, café, reception, toilets, and guest areas serviced as required.

The role splits between cleaning public areas to standard and supporting café and reception upkeep, with duties assisting the Duty Manager, handling guest requests, and ensuring a welcoming, safe environment for all guests and visitors.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping or hospitality cleaning preferred.
• Ability to work across public areas and cafe.
• Knowledge of health, safety and hygiene regulations.
• Willingness to work weekends/holidays as required by hotel operations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to high standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and facilities to ensure quality and address issues promptly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Public Area Cleaner to help maintain exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards across our property. This varied role combines housekeeping responsibilities with public area and café cleaning duties, while providing operational support to the Duty Manager and assisting guests with requests as required.

The successful candidate will spend approximately half of their shift supporting housekeeping operations, including cleaning and servicing guest accommodation areas to company standards, and approximately half supporting the cleanliness, presentation and upkeep of the café, reception, toilets and public spaces. The role also involves assisting the Duty Manager with cleaning-related tasks, maintaining high standards across the site, responding positively to guest requests and helping to create a welcoming, safe and enjoyable environment for all guests and visitors.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A HOUSEKEEPING TEAM MEMBER

• Ensuring that all rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are cleaned to the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation


• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and facilities to maintain and improve quality standards, addressing any issues promptly


• Follow health and safety protocols, maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe environment for staff and guests

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation


• Organisational skills to administrative tasks efficiently


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members, other departments, and guests


• Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene regulations, with a proactive approach to ensuring compliance


• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as required by the needs of the hotel
