  • This is a perfect opportunity to use your engagement in public policy issues and knowledge of economic and financial trends to support senior stakeholders and the wider Public Affairs and Policy teams
  • You'll be holding a pivotal position, allowing you to broaden your network as you’ll be engaging with high profile, internal and external stakeholders
  • We're offering this role for a period of 12 months
What you'll do

You’ll be using your expert knowledge of the UK political environment to liaise with and advise senior stakeholders of any potential impacts on the bank. Supporting the C&I business, you'll be identifying and working with ministers, MPs, government officials and business stakeholders to help communicate the bank's strategy. You’ll also be using your own contact networks to provide intelligence for internal purposes.

Working closely with the rest of Corporate Affairs, you’ll be leveraging activity and ensuring a consistent approach to risk management and external engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and influencing the delivery of public affairs strategy, taking into account the threats and opportunities presented by the economic and political environment
  • Analysing and interpreting the content of legislation, issues and proposals that may affect the bank's interests, and proactively advising the business on potential impacts and strategic opportunities
  • Working with UK industry working groups and associations to ensure they are aware of the bank’s positions and able to influence policy to that effect
  • Representing the externally with stakeholders and at events
  • Distributing well-structured information to relevant senior internal stakeholders and your wider Corporate Affairs colleagues in a timely manner
The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with a strong history of stakeholder engagement and a well-developed understanding of the UK legislative process, political process and public policy formation. • Excellent and nuanced communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
