Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Psychology Graduate to work as a Learning Support Assistant in a mainstream primary school in the L32 area, Liverpool. The role is part-time (3 days per week) and focuses on supporting KS2 pupils academically, emotionally, and socially.

Ideal for graduates considering Educational Psychology, Child Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, or Occupational Therapy, with close collaboration with teachers and the SENCO to remove barriers to learning.

Qualifications

• A degree in Psychology or a relevant subject within the last 5 years.
• Interest in child development, behaviour and educational psychology.
• Experience with children or young people via schools, tutoring, clubs, care or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and observation skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to KS2 pupils.
• Support children with additional needs including SEND, SEMH, ADHD, and speech/language needs.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, concentration, and social interaction.
• Support delivery of English including reading, writing, and comprehension.
• Support pupils with Maths and other areas of the curriculum.
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement in learning.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Observe, monitor, and accurately record pupil progress and behaviour.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and the SENCO.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
