About the School

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated Psychology, Autism & Speech and Language Support Assistant to join its specialist Autism Base. The Autism Base provides specialist support for primary-aged children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional communication, learning and sensory needs. Candidate Requirements

The ideal Psychology, Autism & Speech and Language Support Assistant will have:

• A degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, Speech and Language, Linguistics or a related subject, although this is not essential.
• A genuine interest in supporting children with Autism and additional special educational needs.
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, Autism, ADHD or communication needs.
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• An interest in developing a long-term career in Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, SEN teaching or specialist education.
• Experience with PECS, Makaton, visual supports or sensory strategies would be advantageous but is not essential
