Job summary

Pertemps Education Network in Kingston upon Thames is seeking a Psychology, Autism & Speech and Language Learning Support Assistant to join an Independent SEN School. The role is available full-time or part-time, with ASAP / September 2026 start and a daily rate of £108.35.

You will work with teachers, therapists and other staff to help pupils access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence in a highly supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Psychology graduate or relevant experience with children/yong people with SEN.
• Experience working with autism, speech and language needs, or communication difficulties.
• Patience, empathy, resilience and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work 1:1 and small groups, with active involvement in therapies.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Support children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and speech, language and communication needs.
• Help pupils develop communication, social and emotional skills.
• Support engagement with lessons and differentiated activities.
• Implement strategies recommended by therapists and other professionals.

An independent SEN school in Kingston upon Thames is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join its specialist team. Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered.

The school supports pupils with a range of autism, speech and language needs, communication difficulties and additional learning needs, providing a highly individualised and supportive learning environment.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to help pupils access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence and independence.

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and speech, language and communication needs.
• Helping pupils develop communication, social and emotional skills.
• Supporting pupils to engage with lessons and differentiated learning activities.
• Implementing strategies recommended by Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals.
• Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate and manage emotions.
• Developing positive, trusting relationships with pupils and acting as a consistent source of support.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in school life.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, therapists and families.
• Following individual support plans and contributing to pupils' wider development.
